About DeShelia SpANN, Founder and Prinicipal Photographer

There are a few things in life that I truly love – God, time family and friends, a good piece of fried fish and photography. I never thought signing up for the high school yearbook staff would have such a lasting impact on my life. I wake up every morning grateful to have the opportunity to do something I truly love and that’s meaningful to so many people.”

Simply put, DeShelia is an artist. Starting out as the photographer for her high school yearbook staff, DeShelia fell in love with telling stories. In college, she pursued her interest in storytelling and graduated with a degree in broadcast news. She spent the early part of her career working to develop her craft – first as an associate producer for a local news affiliate and then moving on to serve as an associate broadcast producer for one of the largest advertising agencies in the southeast. DeShelia had the opportunity to work on international campaigns with some of the sharpest producers, art directors and editors in the industry. She soaked it all in and with every new project, her love for great imagery and beautifully told stories remained.

DeShelia dedicates her free time to working with non-profit organizations in her community, helping them grow their reach through creative marketing strategies and creative imagery. She's also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., serves on the board of StepUp Ministry in Raleigh and volunteers with her church, World Overcomers Christian Church. Recently, DeShelia was recognized by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a 2013 Woman of the Year nominee for her work in the community.
